Reminder Of Our ASB Awareness Week
ASB Awareness Week is now well underway and our series of live sessions kicked off with a brilliant webinar dedicated to the cinema industry, a special episode of the Social Housing Round Table and our collaborative discussion session with Clarke Willmott. Do not worry if you missed any of the sessions – we will have an ASB Awareness Week Special Edition for you next week with access to all of the recordings, resources and reflections on what initiatives where undertaken during the week. There is still time for the remaining sessions this week if you want to join – click the links and get registered:
Thursday 3 July – Darren Burton will be hosting a session with Paul Gorton exploring how housing associations can best prepare themselves for using closure powers. This would also be a valuable conversation for other agencies looking to review their approach to using this tool, or seeking best practice ideas. Sign up for this session by clicking here.
Friday 4 July – Janine Green and Sarah Bradley from Consilium Training and Support will be debating the Respect Order and what needs to be considered when preparing for this new civil-criminal hybrid tool. Register to join here.
Don’t miss out on the remaining sessions to add to your professional toolkit this week and join the important conversations on developments in the sector.

Clarke Willmott ASB Awareness Week Article Series
Continuing the focus on ASB Awareness Week, the Housing Management team at Clarke Willmott Solicitors has launched a special series of articles offering clear, practical advice across four key themes in antisocial behaviour work – with a focus on how we can all #MakeCommunitiesSafer.
Part 1 is now live, exploring how to ensure victims of ASB are fully supported, with reference to the tools available to social landlords. It’s a timely and useful read for anyone working in housing, enforcement, or legal roles.

ASB Help Launch The Practitioners Communication Guide
We’re proud to have collaborated with ASB Help on an important new resource for practitioners:
‘It’s not just ASB: Why language matters when supporting victims’ – a communication guide created to help professionals respond with empathy, clarity, and respect.
Working in the sector we know that victims of ASB are often left feeling unheard or dismissed by the very systems meant to support them. This new guide responds directly to that challenge, offering practical advice on how to validate experiences, avoid minimising harm, and build trust through better communication.
Developed with input from victims and frontline professionals, the guide includes:
- Clear alternatives to commonly used phrases that may unintentionally cause distress
- Harm-aware, trauma-informed language suggestions
- Tips on building rapport, signposting sensitively, and avoiding agency “ping-pong”
- Reflections from those with lived experience
It’s a powerful tool for anyone working in ASB, housing, or community safety – and we’re honoured to have contributed to its development.

NWG Launch New Digital Disruption Resource
NWG has launched a practical new tool designed to help frontline practitioners recognise and respond to potential signs of exploitation. Whether you work in housing, maintenance, or community outreach, this guide offers clear steps on what to look for, how to report concerns, and who to contact.
This is especially valuable for housing providers and contractors who regularly enter residents’ homes and may be the first to notice red flags. Early intervention is crucial -and this tool helps make sure concerns are acted on appropriately and swiftly.
If your organisation works face-to-face with tenants or residents, we strongly recommend exploring and sharing this resource with your teams.

New Webinar - Review - Recommend - Deliver: Reflections On The ASB Case Management Process
How many times have you reviewed an ASB case and thought, “We know what needs to happen – so why hasn’t it?” This free lunchtime webinar coming at the end of July gets to the heart of that question.
Too often, good recommendations fall flat in practice – lost in the day-to-day, blocked by lack of buy-in, or simply not tailored enough to stick. In this session, we’ll explore what it really takes to turn reviews into results.
With a focus on person-centred approaches, barriers to engagement, and the practical realities of partnership working, guest speaker Jon Bull joins partner Darren Burton to bring valuable insights from the world of counselling, social care and mental health.
If you’re working on ASB case management and want to reflect on what’s working (and what isn’t), join Darren and Jon for a grounded and honest discussion, packed with reflections, ideas, and shared experience from across the sector. This will also be useful to Registered Housing Providers given the requirements of the Crime & Policing Bill granting them this power.
Date: Tuesday 29 July 2025
Time: 12:30 – 1:30pm
Janine & Darren’s Weekly Round Up
This week has been all about momentum. With ASB Awareness Week now in full swing, we’ve seen the sector come together in brilliant and creative ways – sharing practice, reflecting on impact, and showing real commitment to doing things better. From resource launches to local walkabouts, what’s clear is that there’s a renewed energy behind making communities safer and more supportive places to live.
Behind the scenes, we’re finalising prep for our remaining sessions (still time to sign up if you haven’t!) and also feeling excited to announce that next week’s newsletter will be a special edition. We’ll be rounding up all the key takeaways, reflections and resources from the week, so if you missed a session or want to catch up, keep an eye out.
After ASB Awareness Week we will be in full swing of preparation and promotion of our upcoming events this summer and autumn, including webinars, fringe events and of course the #ASB11 Conference.
If you need support with any of the issues raised this week, or looking for advice on your own ASB strategy then drop us a line – we’re always happy to help.
Have a great week.
Janine & Darren
