Call for Evidence: Shaping Sentencing Policies
The Independent Sentencing Review has been launched, calling for input from relevant professionals to shape recommendations aimed at preventing prison overcrowding and emergency releases. They are seeking evidence on topics relevant to community and custodial sentencing, offender rehabilitation, and the needs of victims, with a focus on addressing ASB and improving community safety outcomes. Professionals are encouraged to contribute ambitious, innovative ideas and share best practices to influence future sentencing policies. This could be a great opportunity to contribute to future policy – you can find out more via this link.
Janine & Darren’s Weekly Round Up
This week has really demonstrated the value of collaborative approaches in addressing ASB. Darren’s work on the Rochdale case study highlights how involving residents and tailoring interventions to their specific needs can lead to significant improvements in community safety. It’s a clear example of how practical, community-focused solutions can tackle even complex issues like organised crime.
On the other hand, the Housing Ombudsman’s new resources offer a fresh perspective on equipping landlords and residents with the knowledge they need to manage ASB more effectively. As part of ASB Awareness Week, we were excited to host the webinar this week, where we discussed how these tools can be applied to real-world situations.
