Claire Waxman OBE appointed as Victims’ Commissioner
Claire Waxman OBE has been confirmed as the next Victims’ Commissioner, beginning a three-year term in January 2026.
The role exists to champion the interests of victims and witnesses of crime and ASB, encourage good practice in their treatment, and oversee the Victims’ Code.
Claire has served as London’s Victims’ Commissioner since 2017, where she has consistently amplified victim voices and influenced major legislative change. It will be interesting to see how her priorities influence the national conversation on victims and ASB in the months ahead.

The #ASB11 Conference – Let’s Talk About PSPO’s…
PSPOs are rarely out of the headlines… but are we getting them right in practice? Questions around conditions, consistency and enforceability continue to cause debate across the sector.
At #ASB11, Dr Ben Archer will be helping to cut through the noise with The PSPO: Learning from Best Practice and Guidance. Drawing on his PhD research, Ben has developed a new guidance document with recommendations and real case studies. Every delegate will receive a copy in their welcome pack, with this session giving exclusive insight into its contents.
The PSPO discussion is just one part of a packed programme covering communication, victim voice and the latest legal updates – all grounded in the theme of partnership working. With just 5 weeks to go and less than 20 tickets remaining this is shaping up to be the ASB event of the year…
Janine & Darren’s Weekly Round Up
Both of us have been busy this week at the Housing Community Summit, joining colleagues from across the sector to explore some of the big challenges and opportunities facing housing and community safety. As part of the Summit, we’ve just hosted a lively fringe event focused on hate crime. It was fantastic to bring together the mix of voices from housing, policing, mediation and community leadership and have such an important conversation. A big thank you to Case Management Solutions Group, MSB Solicitors and ADR Mediation CIC for sponsoring the event.
There’s a huge amount of learning and discussion to take in, and we’ll be pulling together a full round-up in next week’s newsletter…including the key takeaways for ASB practice.
And finally, it’s brilliant to see how many of you have already booked onto #ASB11. With fewer than 20 tickets still available, now’s the time to secure your place if you haven’t already.
Have a great week!
Janine & Darren
