Youth hubs announced for ASB hotspots
A new government initiative will see the introduction of youth hubs in areas identified as anti-social behaviour hotspots, with the first sites launching in cities including Bristol, Nottingham and Leeds.
The proposal brings together employment support, wellbeing services and youth provision within a single, community-based setting, with a clear focus on prevention and early intervention.
For housing and community safety practitioners, the link between youth provision, opportunity and anti-social behaviour is already well understood. Long-term reduction in ASB rarely sits with enforcement alone. It is shaped by what sits around it, including access to support, meaningful engagement and visible alternatives for young people.
What stands out in this approach is the emphasis on joining services up.
Bringing different forms of support into one place has the potential to reduce fragmentation and make it easier for young people to access help without repeating their experiences across multiple agencies. It also aligns with the continued shift towards more preventative, partnership-led responses across the sector.
As ever, the impact will depend on how well these hubs connect into existing local systems. Their effectiveness will sit in how housing providers, local authorities, policing and community organisations work alongside them, rather than around them.
This is well worth reading in full, particularly for those involved in partnership working and early intervention approaches.
Summer School courses now open
Our Summer School programme is now open for bookings, offering a series of focused sessions designed to support practitioners working across ASB and community safety.
Each session is built around the realities of casework, with a clear emphasis on strengthening decision making, applying tools with confidence and navigating complexity in a structured way.
You can expect practical, scenario-led learning that reflects the pressures teams are working under, alongside space to step back and sense check your current approach.
For those looking to build confidence, refresh core knowledge or develop more robust practice in complex cases, the Summer School provides a valuable opportunity to do that.

Conflict Resolution Week Live Conference – 30 April
Across housing and community safety, some of the most challenging situations are not just about the tools available, but how conversations are handled in the moment. It is for that reason we are pleased to be share the ADR Mediation Conflict Resolution Week Live Conference which is taking place on the 30th April.
Communication and conflict resolution are not secondary skills in this work. They sit at the centre of how cases are understood, how risk is identified and how situations either stabilise or escalate.
This conference brings together practitioners and sector specialists to explore how conflict presents in real settings and what approaches are making a difference on the ground. The focus throughout is on practical application, from early intervention through to more complex and escalated cases, reflecting the realities teams are managing every day.
At a time where expectations around professionalism, accountability and decision making continue to increase, investing in these skills is becoming increasingly important for both individuals and organisations.
If your role involves managing people, situations or cases where communication directly influences outcomes, this is a valuable opportunity to step back, reflect and strengthen your approach. As previous sponsors of our conference and speakers at the #ASB11 Conference we are pleased to be supporting and promoting an event that brings real value to the sector.
Weekly round up
We hope you managed to take some time to switch off over the Easter break and have come back into the week with a bit more headspace.
This week is focused on picking things back up and continuing to shape the programme for #ASB12 A New Dawn. There are some important conversations taking place behind the scenes, and we are looking forward to developing these further with the team when we meet up in London for a full on strategy planning session.
More to come very soon!
Have a great rest of the week,
Team G&B
