ASB News & Resources For You
Leeds University have launched a new toolkit for professionals to support with preventing and disrupting cuckooing victimisation
This toolkit provides essential resources to help professionals recognise and respond to cuckooing, a crime where criminals exploit vulnerable individuals by taking over their homes. The materials include guides on risk identification, safeguarding processes, and key contacts, alongside posters and informational leaflets.
This is an incredible resource for those working in the ASB sector – you can get full details and access to the full toolkit by visiting their website.
Just Launched: The Independent Commission On Neighbourhoods

The Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods has been launched this September, aiming to assess the current state of neighbourhoods in England. Its primary focus is on the role neighbourhoods play in people’s lives and how neighbourhood-based regeneration can contribute to wider social and economic goals. The Commission will evaluate both domestic and international evidence, especially concerning deprived and “left behind” communities, to determine what strategies have been most effective.
Chaired by Baroness Armstrong of Hill Top, the Commission consists of a cross-party group of experts and is supported by an academic panel, a lived experience panel, and community sector organisations. The findings will help build the case for a stronger focus on neighbourhoods within national policies to address issues like disadvantage and community regeneration.
The Commission is gathering evidence on key questions, including:
- Definitions of neighbourhoods relevant to the Commission’s remit
- Why neighbourhoods matter and how socio-economic needs interact at the neighbourhood level
- People’s experiences in deprived neighbourhoods
- The most impactful interventions at the neighbourhood level
- How to shape effective neighbourhood policy at national, regional, and local levels
Submissions for evidence will remain open until the end of 2024. For more information visit the website here
