Have your say – Homelessness Sector Workforce Survey
Homeless Link, the national membership body for organisations working with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in England, is currently running a workforce survey on behalf of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
The aim is to build a clearer picture of who works in the homelessness sector, how people enter the field, and the barriers and opportunities around training, development and retention.
If your work supports people who are at risk of homelessness, this is a chance to contribute to a stronger evidence base that could shape future policy and funding.

Heading to the Housing Community Summit in Liverpool this September? Don’t miss our exclusive fringe event taking place straight after the main conference on Monday 8 September, 4pm–7pm, just a short walk from the venue.
Join us at Nova Scotia Bar for a focused panel discussion and round table exchange, followed by informal networking and live music. This is your chance to connect with sector leaders and frontline practitioners in a more relaxed and engaging setting.
Our panellists include:
- Ben Osu – EDI Lead, Everton Football Club
- Tracey Gore – Director, Steve Biko Housing Association
- Mushtaq Khan – CEO, Housing Diversity Network
- Charlie Hamilton-Kay – Deputy CEO, ASB Help
- Louise Murphy – Partner & Head of Housing, MSB Solicitors
- Kim Logan – Director, ADR Mediation & Training
- Police Hate Crime Specialist
- Trina O’Connor – Criminologist (Ireland)
Got a question for the panel? We’re inviting attendees to submit questions in advance to help shape the conversation. Whether it’s around community safety, inclusion, enforcement or multi-agency working, we want to hear what matters to you.

This Weeks Top Tip - Is your warning process fit for purpose?
During this years ASB Awareness Week, we shared insights on the proposed Respect Orders in the crime and policing bill in a free webinar hosted by partner Janine Green and Sarah Bradley from Consilium Training and Support. One of the key changes being suggested is the inclusion of a formal written warning stage when a breach of an activity requirement has occurred.
But as discussed during the presentation, there’s value in reviewing your approach to warnings now – before anything becomes law.
Here’s Janine’s tip:
“The proposed Respect Order includes a formal written warning stage when a breach of an activity requirement has occurred… But even before this becomes law, there’s value in reviewing your approach to warnings now.
Too often, warnings are verbal, inconsistent or loosely documented. That can undermine your position if you later need to escalate.
Start tightening up your process by asking:
- Is the warning clearly written and specific to the behaviour?
- Can you evidence that the person received and understood it?
- Does the warning give them a fair opportunity to respond or change?
Having a clear, consistent warning process within our case management supports both legal thresholds and ethical practice.
Effective communication starts with clarity. A properly handled warning sets the tone for what follows – whether that’s engagement or enforcement.”

Janine & Darren’s Weekly Round Up
While some may be winding down for the summer holidays, we’re definitely not – with a packed webinar, more planning on the Liverpool Fringe Event and more progress on the #ASB11 Conference, it’s been full steam ahead.
From DNA sprays to young people washing police cars, the stories making the news this week have once again highlighted the sheer variety – and pressure – involved in managing ASB and the solutions being tested in communities. The one constant? Frontline teams being asked to do more, with more scrutiny, and often with less.
This week’s free webinar took a closer look at what happens after case reviews and the real-world challenges of turning recommendations into action. Darren was joined by Jon Bull, who brought fresh insight into how person-centred approaches can help build trust, unlock engagement, and move things forward. If you couldn’t join us live, the replay and downloadable summary will be available soon so watch this space.
We’re also really pleased to see how much interest there’s been in the #ASB11 Conference. With more than 40% of tickets already gone, and new sponsors like ADR Mediation joining the line-up, it’s clear that the appetite for honest, practical sector conversation is growing. If you’re planning to come, don’t leave it too late that you miss out on the Early Bird Pricing.
We’ll be back soon with more updates, sector news, and practical tips… until then have a great week!
Janine & Darren
