ASB and Safeguarding

This course teaches how to safeguard diverse communities through promoting a culture of safety. Participants learn these skills through practical scenarios and case studies, resulting in the ability to create a safer community.

ASB And Safeguarding

Dealing with ASB is not a ‘one size fits all’ process. There may be times when a report of ASB

is received, where the nuisance behaviour is a symptom of another concern, such as domestic abuse, hoarding or cuckooing. In order that the best response is given, ensuring the best outcome for all parties involved, officers must be able to use professional curiosity to identify these cases and make the necessary adjustments to their case work.

Specifically, learners will explore:

  • The importance of professional curiosity and effectively assessing reports of ASB to ensure problems are categorised correctly and the best response given
  • Recognising the range of victims that might be present in a safeguarding case and looking at ways to balance these in action plans
  • Considering the signs to look for that may suggest more complex needs such as hoarding, domestic abuse and cuckooing
  • The differences to the case management process when dealing with these types of cases
