ASB News: Driving Related ASB On The Rise…

In the past week there have been over 5 separate instances of police having to intervene with driving, motorcycle and car related ASB, with issues reported in Kings Langley, Stoke On Trent, Stratford and more. This rise in ASB is causing increasing concern among communities across the UK. Incidents range from reckless driving and illegal street racing to disruptive car gatherings and excessive noise from modified vehicles. These activities are seen as not only endangering public safety but also contribute to a growing sense of unease and frustration among residents. The rise in such behaviour is linked to various factors, including a lack of police presence, inadequate road safety education, and social media glorification of dangerous driving. Is this an issue that you think needs a more co-ordinated response from the new government or do you think the current ASB toolkit is sufficient and needs more deployment?
Janine’s thoughts: Addressing this issue requires a multi-faceted approach, including stricter enforcement of traffic laws, community engagement, and targeted interventions to deter offenders. Without proactive measures, the impact on local communities could worsen, undermining efforts to create safe and harmonious neighbourhoods. Local businesses should look to get involved too, to prevent inadvertently creating spaces for this type of activity with late night opening and limited car park controls.

Free ASB & Neurodiversity Webinar This June!

Join us on June 25th at 09:30 AM for an important session on neurodiversity and ASB case management!
Did you know that around 1 in 7 people are neurodivergent? That’s more than 15% of the UK population. Given this, it’s highly likely that we will encounter ASB cases involving neurodivergent individuals. Traditional ASB case management processes may not always be accessible or inclusive for those whose brains function in a “non-typical” manner.
This session is essential for all practitioners working in ASB. We’ll discuss the behaviours that might present in neurodivergent ASB victims and how we can adjust our processes to be more inclusive and effective.
Our partner, Janine, who was diagnosed with ADHD later in life in 2022, will share her journey of learning and understanding. She will reflect on how ASB case management processes may need to change to accommodate different needs.
Janine will be joined by guest speakers with lived experience, who will share their insights and discuss changes made to local ASB processes to better support neurodivergent victims.
Don’t miss out on this valuable opportunity to enhance your understanding and skills. Sign up now and be part of this crucial conversation!
That’s it from us this week – let us know what you are working on right now and what you are thinking about the general election so far from an ASB perspective…
